2012 CSFFL Draft:
MI…MI…MI…MIKE WILLIAMS!!
The draft to begin the 2012 CSFFL season was the final live draft done to date with all league members present. This year, the league switched from team defenses to individual defensive players (IDP), and also expanded from 6 to 8 total teams. It once again occurred in the legendary Paʻahana Street location, and featured Commissioner Stalin attempting to live stream the draft board he was using via some sketchy website to the television that was maybe 28 inches wide that the entire league had to crowd around in order to see anything. It also had arguably the most memorable pick in league history, with Logan forgetting who he wanted for the second consecutive year and screaming a random player at the last second. We’ll get to that later.
The First Four Rounds
We continued our tradition of dislocating both shoulders to reach for QBs way too early in a one-QB league
Potentially the biggest question mark was rookie MileHI Manning taking Eli Manning despite Peyton Manning still being on the board, and Ryan being a born-and-raised Coloradan and die-hard Broncos fan. In a weird twist of fate, division rival Djavan ended up taking Peyton, who would end up facing his brother in the wild card round of the 2012 CSFFL playoffs
How about Hakeem Nicks making another appearance the first four rounds?
This draft saw kickers being taken in the 9th round, before the likes of Troy Polamalu and Antonio Brown
Punter Shane Lechler was taken in round 15 out of 23 by Q
The addition of IDP allowed some offensive players to slide down the draft board, and once again we got some great names available late in the draft…like Robert Meachem and Ahtyba Rubin
Lance Moore again?
The final round of the 2012 draft saw Randy Moss taken for the final time in league history by Any, Esq. on his farewell tour with the 49ers. Straight cash, homie
POST-DRAFT ROSTERS
2012 Draft Awards
Best Pick: Adrian Peterson, Round 2 by Q. Falling to the last pick of round 2 due to tearing his ACL in the previous season, Q snatched up AP in what would be his best season ever as he came up just 9 yards short of Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing yards record
Worst Pick: Darren McFadden, Round 2 by the Law Firm. This was the second straight year we saw a favorite-team RB reached for early in the 2nd round, this time with Any, Esq. taking Raiders stud McFadden. McFadden’s season highlight came in October against the Texans when he rushed for -2 total yards, and he ended the season with 357 total rushing yards and one (1) touchdown
Most Incredible Pick: Anquan Boldin, Round 23 by MileHI Manning. Again, Mr. Irrelevant proves to be a valuable receiver as Anquan Boldin had 921 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, despite being picked after a bunch of punters and Ahtyba Rubin
