2012 Regular Season

  • The 2012 season featured both the first expansion franchises in league history as well as the league’s first franchise folding

  • Alex Smith For President, the 2011 runner up, became the first CSFFL franchise to fold after ceasing operations following the 2011 season

  • The league expanded from 6 to 8 teams with the addition of MileHI Manning, Q, and the Toll Booth

  • The defensive scoring system was switched from Team Defense/Special Teams to Individual Defensive Players (IDP)

    • The Law Firm is still maintaining a hold out based on this league decision as of the 2021 NFL Season

  • The 2012 Draft was also held in Pa’ahana, with all 8 members present for a live draft that had the draft board streamed to a TV that was maybe 24 inches

  • The 2012 season was the only one in which every single team made the playoffs…and boy was it bad

Final Regular Season Standings

It was clear from the very beginning that there was some issues in quality between the two divisions. The North Division saw the worst team - the defending champion Law Firm - come out of the 14-game regular season with a 7-7 record, which would have been just one game short of the divisional title in the incredibly poor East Division. Interestingly, the three teams in the East Division that were just awful this season were each original CSFFL members - Coach Rubs, the Ganja Farmers, and the Sneaky Greek. The divisional crowns were taken by two newcomers in Q and MileHI Manning, while the Toll Booth, the other rookie, also pulled through with a winning record during the regular season. Q dominated the regular season en route to an 11-3 record, good enough to hold off Commissioner Stalin for the divisional title and the 1-seed.

Based on the points alone, it would seem obvious that Q was going to run away with the title in this season. However, completely awful decisions by Commissioner Stalin in allowing everyone to make the playoffs allowed two teams with less than 6 wins during a 15-game regular season make runs to the semifinals - with Coach Rubs and his 5-9 record almost winning it in the end.
